We offer Equipped to Serve training twice a year, usually in the summer and fall. If you want to become a volunteer lay-counselor this training is one of the requirements. Trainings for 2012 have already been offered for the year. The next training will be offered summer 2013. Please feel free to call the center to be added to our database if you would like to be informed of trainings offered in 2013.
These trainings are geared to help volunteers counsel a woman or young couple in crisis and educates about abortion procedures and facts, fetal development, community resources, adoption as an option as well as crisis interventions. Getting equipped to serve is about learning how to connect people with resources they need during an unplanned pregnancy.
The training takes place at the Sanford Crisis Pregnancy Center in the Conference Room and accommodates 10 registrants. The training is offered in a 2 week format totaling 18 hours. Attendance at all classes is required for volunteering at our center. This training is open to the community. You are not obligated to be a volunteer at our center after completing the training.
Here’s what our students said about it:
